A number of furniture manufacturing processes become subject to Local Air
Pollution Control (LAPC) when they reach a certain size. Such processes must be
authorised by their regulators - local authorities (England and Wales) and the
Scottish Environmental Protection Agency. Companies are required to upgrade
their processes to meet the best practice standards laid down in the relevant
process guidance note. The main notes of interest for furniture sites are listed
